Choosing the Right Site

For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to go to college at Penn State (which was/is the only school in my mind). 😊 I grew up on a farm, in a place that nobody ever knew existed unless they had ties back to it. Naturally, I wanted to major in Animal Science but my Dad always thought I should be an Agricultural Educator.
The spring semester of my freshman year at Penn State is one that I will never forget. I made the decision to "leave all of my friends" and change majors. It started at the beginning of the semester and was official by mid April. I was so scared and afraid that I was not cut out to be a teacher. As I continued to become involved in CFFA and TeachAg! Society that semester, I realized that I can do whatever I set my mind to. That goes for anybody and everybody. It is perfectly okay to change your mind and put yourself outside of your comfort zone.
This past Tuesday, I attended the last club meeting of the semester. It was an "Ugly Sweater Party" and a fleece tie blanket service project meeting. Of course, any good meeting/party has to have food! That's beside the point. The point is that after a semester of traveling for the Penn State Livestock Judging Team, finally being able to attend a meeting was quite a treat. Spending time with people who I hadn't seen in what seems like forever reminded me that I am right where I belong.
Words of advice: Don't ever count something out until you have tried it. Try new things, take that leap of faith and go outside of your comfort zone. So far it has worked out pretty well for me. I look forward to jumping on the track towards becoming a student teacher. This is just the beginning to the journey of a lifetime. It is becoming so surreal and I cannot wait to go on this amazing journey with an amazing cohort! #psuaged19
