Welcome!

Hey everyone! This welcome comes a little late but I should probably introduce myself. My name is Sara Lang. Currently, I am a junior at Penn State majoring in Agricultural and Extension Education with a minor in Animal Science. I'm not going to explain here how I got into the major but check out my first blog post to find out! Here's the link! https://saralang13.blogspot.com/2017/12/choosing-right-site.html

This picture is of my favorite Shorthorn beef heifer, Snowbunni. I sold her shortly after this photo was taken and then the buyer sold her not long after. To this day, I have no idea where she is or how she is doing. 😭

As part of the #psuaged19 cohort, I am starting my journey to choosing a cooperating center to student teach at next spring. This is going to be a long and hard journey but it will be well worth it! Meeting so many new people, getting to know different areas of the state, and watching students grow will be a once in a lifetime experience. I have nine other amazing people to go on this adventure with. Besides my cohort, I have enormous support from my parents and all of my friends.

You'll see more posts from me as I continue on my Ag Ed journey and as we document the ups and downs of a pre-service Ag Teacher. Next week, I am visiting Northern Lebanon and Cedar Crest High Schools in Lebanon County. I am super excited to start getting observation hours outside of my comfort zone. Through my recent communication with these teachers, a new passion for teaching was instilled in me. I am ecstatic to learn about these teachers, their programs and their students as I have heard a lot of great things about them! Check out my blog next week to see my reflections!

2018 Seeds to Sow

So here it is; the 2nd day of the 2nd month of the year. Just now got to my first post. The year started off with showing my beef cattle at the PA State Farm Show and going back to help others show their sheep the following weekend. As usual, it was an unbelievable start to the new year!

There are so many things that have changed already. From my new job, to seeing people who I haven't talked to since freshman year; it's been a whirlwind of a semester already! I'm working for the Center for Professional Personnel Development at Penn State. Several members of my cohort work with me and it has been great getting to know them in that capacity.

I guess what I'm trying to do is not to make New Year's resolutions but I kind of already have. Some of my friendships have ended on a bad note and I am trying to be the better person and restore them in order to have a good year. Another of my "not resolution resolutions" is that I want to make a difference. With trying to pick a cooperating center, comes many school visits. Just because I won't be teaching those students, doesn't mean I won't interact with them and get to know them. Even just being there for a short amount of time can make a huge difference.

I encourage everyone to go out and do what you love. Talk to others, let's make a difference this year! #icanwewill
